@zeblarson@hcommons.social The question is... where will those writers end up?

@zeblarson@hcommons.social if the Teen Vogue political desk formed their own media outlet I would seriously consider subscribing

@zeblarson@hcommons.social Yep, there goes the last MSM with any teeth. I'm surprised it took this long.

@zeblarson@hcommons.social Will help make Conde Nast more appealing to be absorbed into some right-wing billionaire's media empire.

@zeblarson@hcommons.social Do you have a source for the politics desk being axed? That press release doesn't say it explicitly although it is hinted at heavily with: > As a dedicated pillar on Vogue, Teen Vogue will focus its content on career development, cultural leadership and other issues that matter most to young people, according to the publication.

@zeblarson@hcommons.social I’ll unfollow them now

@zeblarson@hcommons.social it's ironic that I was having a conversation with somebody the other day and we were trying to think of a mainstream news outlet that hadn't bent the knee. The one outlet that was mentioned? Teen Vogue.

@zeblarson@hcommons.social I don't think there's any way this count as innocuous.

@lucyruthe@mastodon.social 2025-11-03 22:12
@zeblarson@hcommons.social There was some rumor about Bezos buying Vogue, and I've been wondering what would become of the Teen Vogue politics for a few months now.... The political commentary coming from Teen Vogue was the only thing that I found interesting about the Vogue content. I hope those writers find a new outlet and their followers go with them.

@smellsofbikes@mastodon.social 2025-11-03 22:15
@zeblarson@hcommons.social they were a surprisingly good and consistent voice and I'm really sorry to hear this
-
@cookiesinheaven@m.ai6yr.org 2025-11-03 22:16
@zeblarson@hcommons.social Teen Vogue was doing some great work! They were reporting on issues that the legacy media should have been. This is just so sad.

@zeblarson@hcommons.social Hopefully this pumps further vigor into the Gen Z movement. #GenZ

@silvermoon82@wandering.shop 2025-11-03 22:33
@zeblarson@hcommons.social Saw that coming. Teen Vogue was one of the last vestiges of legitimate political journalism; it was never going to be allowed to keep that up.

@zeblarson@hcommons.social The owners capitulated to Trump.

@zeblarson@hcommons.social Journalism is dying in the US. One of the few outlets who spoke not only against fascism, but also against the evil portrayed as a lesser kind of.

@blogdiva@mastodon.social 2025-11-03 23:09
@zeblarson@hcommons.social did Bezos buy it from Newhouse? or is this in preparation for selling it to him?
-
@pawsplay@dice.camp 2025-11-03 23:17
@zeblarson@hcommons.social The last honest mainstream political reporting is gone.
-
@ljrk@todon.eu 2025-11-03 23:39
@zeblarson@hcommons.social Crap! Not only reduced, wholly axed. That's... something.
-
@jonesmurphy@mastodon.social 2025-11-03 23:41
@zeblarson@hcommons.social I don't see anything about the politics desk being laid off in the article itself. Where'd you get that info?
-
@fulanigirl@mstdn.social 2025-11-03 23:53
@zeblarson@hcommons.social They were too strong for justice. I've thought that axe would fall sooner, we knew it would fall, but it's a shame to see it. Brava to all those folks who tried to bring truth to our young people.
-
@geonz@mathstodon.xyz 2025-11-04 00:08
@zeblarson@hcommons.social NOT innocuous but hey, can they organize their own thing???? Or .... find another place 'cause they could bring followers and revenue. I'd follow. And revenueate.
-
@Sassinake@mastodon.social 2025-11-04 00:14
@zeblarson@hcommons.social ... and that's why they killed it: it was a young journalists training ground.

@joepie91@fedi.slightly.tech 2025-11-04 00:56
@zeblarson@hcommons.social As a dedicated pillar on Vogue, Teen Vogue will focus its content on career development, cultural leadership and other issues that matter most to young people, according to the publication. Did a CEO write this 🙄
