@espidev@fosstodon.org very cool! Would love to retire steam big picture mode from the living room TV which already runs on Plasma KDE!

@espidev@fosstodon.org looks really nice! I once played around with bigscreen when my dad got a new TV because I despise its UI. so bloated and laggy - plasma would be a breath of fresh air there, but back then it was... very not ready. thanks for the work!

@espidev@fosstodon.org I love it so much. Can we run it on a Fire TV stick? If so, its adoption could drive more users (even nerdy users count as users for now) and with users, we get user feedback. I really hope this project doesn’t become abandonware.

@espidev@fosstodon.org I noticed things happening there. Great work! I was hoping to use Plasma Bigscreen as a UI for a movie and emulation system for my living room. Good to see it getting enough maintenance again.

@espidev@fosstodon.org Edit. I read the blogpost. Fantastic work and hopefully one day we'll have RasPi-powered 55" screens which is sold / is flashable with pmos! Does kde allow to use numeric keys on remote controller(s) as old style Nokia writer?

@gamey@chaos.social 2025-07-12 14:06
@espidev@fosstodon.org I love the idea of bigscreen for years but it needs a ton of work and Kirigami apps have to be more easily adaptable to big screens and remotes. I am extremely glad it's no longer half dead and very thankful for your work tho! :)

@espidev@fosstodon.org oh this looks sick! honestly i bet this'd be real nice to have on the steam deck, for more general-use applications than just gaming :p i already use my steam deck a bit for multimedia purposes, so this'd be a nice way to navigate things

@zach@wetdry.world 2025-07-23 06:17
@espidev@fosstodon.org Wonder if we will ever see this running on actual retail TVs... Although I think that largely depends on how flexible KDE is in an embedded environment.

@espidev@fosstodon.org congrats.... This looks really good and interesting. I am fed up with my androidTV. I would like this linux tv set to run on my rpi4. Is there anything new on the porting or installing ? What is the most fonctional setup ?
