📰 Canopy Bridges Enable 15,000+ Wildlife Crossings with Zero Roadkill 🌉 Amazon Brazil: Wildlife canopy bridges, secure rope structures, have reportedly facilitated more than 15,000 crossings while preventing any recorded roadkill on the camera-trap monitored structures. 🐒 Local organizations and business owners supported the work to conserve the unique biodiversity of their town and promote ecotourism. By reconnecting forest habitat fragmented by roads, the bridges allow arboreal animals to move safely between areas that would otherwise be separated by dangerous traffic corridors. 🌳 Award-winning biologist Fernanda Abra is expanding her Project Reconecta in the Amazon and beyond, preserving biodiversity and safety. 🔗 https://news.mongabay.com/2026/07/zero-roadkill-as-amazon-canopy-bridges-secure-15000-crossings/ #WildlifeWednesday #WildlifeConservation #Amazon #WildlifeCrossings #Biodiversity #Conservation

I leave my pot outside and these guys clean it for me. I see that some people are horrified, say the normal kak about rabies carriers etc. Done it my whole life, never been sick from it. #bush #bandedmongoose #nature #wildlifeWednesday

My entry for #WildlifeWednesday A picture I took with my Sony DV camera back in October 2002, while visiting Lake Nakuru in Kenya 🇰🇪. I used my DV camera 📽️ as it had the best zoom I had available, so we could stay on a safe distance... I can't believe it's almost been 24 years, and so much has happened since. But, I still remember the thrill of zooming in on this magnificent, but also dangerous, animal 🦏. #Wildlife #WildLifePhotography #LakeNakuru #Rhinoceros #Rhino

You've probably heard of forest bathing for mental health, but not bat bathing. It's magical to have a kettle of bats buzzing around you like you're in a money tunnel. I sit about 3 m away from the bat house when counting emerging bats, so the bats appear very curious about me. Thankfully their loud ultrasonic screams are beyond my hearing, otherwise it wouldn't be as pleasant an experience. #WildlifeWednesday #BatBathing

Never seen a land snail here before...probably the record rainfall. Remember that invertebrates are animals and wildlife also! #WildlifeWednesday

Palegic Cormorants gather seaweed for their nests. I've watched these birds do this the last couple of weekends, apparently used to help build their nests. Look like they're carrying streamers. #birds #birdsofpixelfed #birdsofmastadon #seaweed #wildlife #animalbehavior #wildlifewednesday #wildlifephotography #nature #photography #washington #pnw

Our local beavers have made a reappearance after being chased off by an excavator a few years ago. The last pond they dammed 6+ ft high was next to a road. Their newest pond is a drainage pond left over from a Whitehorse copper mine in the 1960s at the bottom of a small valley. I'm hoping they get left alone this time. The difference in the pond water is surprising, the water went from super scummy to relatively clean now that they are living in it. #photography #wildlifewednesday #Nikon

Cinnamon Bear Uncompahgre National Forest, CO I was sitting in my camp chair with my long lens hoping for some pretty birds to pose for photos when I caught movement up the small valley. Very excited when this bear ambled by as I'd only ever gotten brief glimpses while driving. He wasn't very concerned about me, but did look over from time to time as he was foraging along the ground. I got lots of photos, but this was the most "artistic." Only later remembered I could have taken video. D'oh! Cinnamon bear is a subspecies of the American black bear and not aggressive like grizzlies, or nearly as large. #WildlifeWednesday #photo #bear #LichenSubscribe #nature #PublicLands #Colorado

CW: Gorgeous Little Spider Hover or focus to reveal Sensitive
It's too cold and rainy to go outside today, but fortunately there's wildlife indoors, too! This friendly little northern yellow sac spider (𝘊𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘶𝘮 𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘪) waited calmly for me to run downstairs to grab my macro lens then posed sweetly before scampering off on the hunt once more. #WebbyWednesday #WildlifeWednesday #IndoorWildlife #spider #invertebrates #NeverHomeAlone
