Learning about the diversity of sparrows has been an unexpected pleasure of birding in Vancouver. At least 14 species live in our municipal parks, if not more! Good news: the rezoning for the Mt. Pleasant AI data centre has been referred back to staff, likely relaying the approval hearing until after the October election - due to "huge public interest"! Every protester, and every person who signed up to speak at the rezoning hearing helped make this happen! Now it's time to fight an election. We'll share next steps soon. Hey Canada?!! New York became the first state to pause all construction of massive new AI data centers. The 1-year moratorium applies to data centers using 50 megawatts or more and will not be lifted until “consistent standards” for responsible data center development are set.
