I can well believe that the playing fields of #Norfolk and #Suffolk are too rock hard to play football on right now. They are parched and dusty with many threadbare in terms of grass. Falling on them would be like landing on concrete. Large #wildfire in #Dunwich #Suffolk (an affluent coastal town, maybe familiar if you are a cyclist as there's a yearly ride from London to Dunwich) 200 people evacuated, "make pumps 15-20" incident (currently 14 Suffolk FRS appliances remaining on scene), brigade have declared major incident.. https://www.itv.com/news/anglia/2026-07-30/major-incident-declared-as-large-wildfire-rips-through-coastal-heathland

Local #Suffolk bin changes niche post: I made the new division of recyclables for the first time this morning, and walked things down to the communal bins. It looks as if some or all of the others who live here have either a) failed to read the new rules, b) failed to understand the new rules, or c) failed to care about the new rules. We shall see whether our bins get collected over the next fortnight. It irritates me that this is out of my control, but on the other hand, if rubbish mounts up I won’t be bothered by the smell. #Anosmia #SilverLining

Greater Anglia has hosted nine Cub Scouts from Ipswich at its training academy in #Stratford, giving them the chance to use its high-tech train driving simulators. The visit was arranged with the East #Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership and included Cubs from the 9th and 31st #Ipswich Scout Groups. Driver Trainer Mark Robson introduced the group to train operations before supervising sessions in the full-size simulator cabs, which replicate real routes, weather conditions and hazards across the Greater Anglia network. Each Scout practised basic driving skills in a range of scenarios.
