5000th toot! #introduction time.
I'm originally from London, UK, now based in Alt Empordà. I make #CreativeCoding #MathArt. I use Linux since 2004 or so, currently happy with Debian though I need to find something else to keep my remaining 32bit hardware up to date #permacomputing. Most of my code is published under #copyleft licenses.
I started making music on classic #Amiga, using #OctaMED SoundStudio until 2003. Then I used #PureData until 2011, but mousing patch cables was increasingly not fun so I wrote pdlua to embed Lua in Pd and later fixed some things to let libpd be compiled with emscripten to run in web browsers. In 2012 I started #LiveCoding music in the #C programming language, which I still do.
Always interested in #fractals, I wrote some libraries to support my investigation of the #MandelbrotSet. I took over maintenance of Kalle's Fraktaler 2, but eventually I was fed up with its code and wrote Fraktaler-3 from scratch, to support deep zooming into hybrid escape time fractals. A companion program Zoomasm is for video output.
I have a lot of projects, most sleeping until I feel inspired to work on them some more. Currently working on Mandeltron, a thing that combines live-coding with the Mandelbrot set.

Yep, it was Message boxes I needed. #puredata
Video is me getting Bangs when push and release one of the switches on the FCB1010, though I just realized I'll still need to filter for channel and note on the NoteOff Bang. But progress is made and I can now start using this device as my singular Footthingy on the floor, for the foreseeable future, once I do a large amount more of PureData thingies. One of these for each of the ten footswitches in a nice little black box and Bangs out the responses for me to do with as I please, just like Jesus intended things.
I need to get the pedals sending data also, they're turned off for some reason at the moment but I know they work, unless they somehow broke just sitting in a corner of the studio for a year. Once I get this dialed in, I need to acquire at least one backup unit, good thing they're still kicking around at reasonable prices, unlike many well built things...

randomly found this while browsing the Alpine repository: ecasound. I've been dreaming of a simple and composable suite of programmes for manipulating live audio. the workflow of @?t=max@soundhunte.rs/msp, @?t=puredata@soundhunte.rs and the like never felt natural to me.
Ecasound is a software package designed for multitrack audio processing. It can be used for simple tasks like audio playback, recording and format conversions, as well as for multitrack effect processing, mixing, recording and signal recycling
The basic working principle of ecasound is similar to the widely used gdb (software debugging) and mysql (database admin) tools. Ecasound allows the user to perform most common tasks directly from the terminal console
now I want to try this so much, hoping there’s a guide or a book or something.
