The #crawlers are pretty annoying, especially when looking at irrelevant stuff digging deeper than necessary. Fortunately, in #OpenBSD using the #fail2ban pattern can be applied as well. My #GoT web server got hammered and first I just banned all the found crawler names. However, now, every action they do on gotwebd is remembered with an effort number and if that adds up to 100, the IP is banned. Additonally, connection storms are also banned if they follow certain patterns. #pf, #perl and I am done using only on-board tools. Why? I didn't want to install #anubis. Not because I don't like it, it is just because I like to do the minimum.

Ich hab während des Bachelors bei einem Filmeabend den Lieblings-Bollywood-Film eines Studentys gesehen. Am Anfang war voll Dürre, Gewitterwolken zogen auf, richtig dramatisch, alle am fröhlich tanzen, jubeln, voll Fete. Gewitterwolke verpufft quasi mir hörbarem Zischen und Musik verstummt. Ich weiß nicht mehr, was das für ein Film war, aber die Szene blieb hängen und so fühle ich mich im Moment ständig. Immer noch keine #PfützenWatch für dieses Jahr.

OpenBSD's ftp (which does talk https) checks the timestamp to see if a newer one is available and only proceeds if there is a newer one. /etc/doas.conf edited to allow the install and pfctl commands to run (just look in doas.conf(5) for details and use the args)
