Grüne und CDU bewilligen Palantir-Einsatz in #Baden-Württemberg Grüne und CDU haben im Landtag den Einsatz der Überwachungssoftware von #Palantir für die baden-württembergische Polizei bewilligt. Kritiker*innen warnen schon lange vor erheblichen Gefahren für den Datenschutz sowie vor Fehleranfälligkeiten und Funktionserweiterungen von KI-gestützer Überwachung durch die Polizei. Der vom rechten Milliardär #PeterThiel gegründete und von Alex Karp geführte Palantir-Konzern, dessen Softwareverkäufe Grüne und #CDU aktiv fördern, steht ebenfalls in massiver Kritik, da er eine Schlüsselrolle in der militärischen Aufrüstung und inneren Autoritarisierung der #USA unter Trump einnimmt. Neben ihrem erneuten klaren Bekenntnis zum Überwachungsstaat zeigen #dieGrünen damit auch, dass sie aus wahlkampftechnischen Gründen bereit sind, der Polizei dystopische Werkzeuge von autoritär-militarisierten Tech-Konzernen zu überreichen. Mit der Digitalisierung von Gesundheitsdaten schafft der Staat nicht nur lukrative Geschäftsmöglichkeiten für große Konzerne, sondern nutzt dies auch für seine autoritäre, biopolitische Transformation. Auf Beschluss des Bundesrats soll die deutsche Polizei mit Hilfe von Software nun massenhaft die psychologischen Gesundheitsdaten der Menschen analysieren. Hinzu kommt, dass dem Bundesrat vorschwebt, dass dafür ein Programm des vom rechten Tech-Oligarchen Peter Thiel gegründeten US-Konzerns Palantir zum Einsatz kommen soll. Palantir hat bereits verschiedene Softwares für Überwachungsstaaten entwickelt, die u.A. in Bayern und Hessen zum Einsatz kommen/kamen. Malaysian officials have ordered Network School to shut down operations. The so-called school, run by Network State cult leader (and Peter Thiel protégé) Balaji Srinivasan, had claimed to be creating a new nation on Malaysian soil. The Network State is a cult ideology that seeks to replace existing nations with new nations run by tech corporations. “The State Government and Local Authorities will not compromise on any breach of laws or matters that could affect national security, sovereignty, and interests,” wrote Onn Hafiz Ghazi, chief minister of the Malaysian state of Johor, in a media statement that said Network School’s business license had been revoked. In 2024, Srinivasan announced the creation of Network School, a kind of co-working camp for tech entrepreneurs who seek to create their own countries. Srinivasan kept the details vague, but initial reports suggested he had “acquired” an island somewhere near Singapore, where he lives. In reality, it appears he had leased space in a failed Forest City housing development, a “ghost city” on a small island in Johor, Malaysia. The Network School ran afoul of Malaysian authorities after reports that it had allowed Israelis to participate in violation of Malaysian law, which bars Israeli citizens from entering Malaysia. Investigators did not find any Israeli passports at Network School, but the controversy put Srinivasan’s cult compound under scrutiny. Carole Cadwalladr's basic framework for today's world is that of liberal capitalism gone wrong. She doesn't think there is anything wrong with capitalism itself, or even with imperialism, as long as it is of the "liberal" variety. (Read her deleted tweet mentioned in this article, as one point of evidence.) Her "expose" of present-day Bilderberg comes from the same perspective. She believes that the Peter Thiel coterie has hijacked the good old West, causing it to discard liberalism and "good capitalism", and that the coterie now pushes that agenda at Bilderberg. Also note that in the same report (on Bilderberg), she flaunts her fandom of Anne Applebaum. This is the same Anne Applebaum who, all the way back in 2002, advocated for Israel to target and kill Palestinian journalists. Two years after that advocacy, Applebaum won the Pulitzer Prize. She is today a highly decorated "journalist" and a purported historian. She sits on the board of Columbia University. You can read Adam Johnson's March 2025 piece for what that may signal to students of Arab origin. Cadwalladr is supposedly a fierce critic of Israel's slaughter of journalists today, but she cannot draw any line from her idol Applebaum's advocacy for precisely this kind of slaughter to its industry-scale implementation today. All in all, I don't think Cadwalladr's perspective is helpful for anti-imperial and anti-capitalist folks. Frankly, @GrumpyOldFart@expressional.social , I am surprised that you consider Cadwalladr's work worth sharing, even if it sounds critical of the Peter Thiel coterie. Even as an investigative journalist, she is sloppy and bombastic. (A Kit Klarenberg she is not.) She is pretty much on the spectrum of what you call the "Vichy media". (You don't otherwise get nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.) She does not belong in the same league as a Ramzy Baroud or a Klarenberg or many of the other folks whose work you routinely share here. (I do appreciate your posts sharing all those perspectives.) In June 2025, Nel Bonilla did, from a German perspective, a less dramatic but far more informative and perceptive deep dive into Bilderberg and other conferences of that ilk.
