when i was researching #OilBeach, i learned the same thing was happening to the gray whale. the only cetacean that was ever "delisted" (removed from the "endangered" list) is now struggling to find food, getting wrapped in plastic lines, and necropsies are finding starved whales who ate plastic, etc. there's no single cause but food sources getting hit by climate changes plus exploitation of food sources by commercial fishing is a double whammy
