Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1011 , Tuesday 04/08/2026 Up at around 7am because I could not sleep thru the noise from next door. Chores & breakfast were followed by a very unproductive day, could not get my brain into gear at all! Mrs S wanted to go to Costco™ this afternoon so off we went. The cunning plan was to have an early tea at their ultra cheap cafe & then hit the shop proper. Sadly the first part of the plan went slightly awry! The first issue is that Costco™, in their wisdom, have take all but 3 of the tables with seats out & replaced them with standing tables. I HATE eating at standing tables but luckily we managed to snag one of the 3 with seats. These are the 2 x 2 seater benches with the table in between type. I had just settled in to wait while Mrs S ordered our tea when some strange woman just sat down opposite me - no please / thank you / do you mind, she just brazenly nicked Mrs S’s seat - I protested about this so she moved down the bench saying something about sharing. Now I have a thing about personal space & a bigger thing about people with no manners! But what could I do - I could not in all conscience tell her to leave because there were, undeniably 2 empty seats at the table. It completely spoilt my tea though. I think that we will pay extra net time & go to an eatery where there are enough tables for all the diners! Then having to traipse around the store & endure all the people almost finished me off. Final Thoughts. The trip to Costco™ really frazzled me, at this point I am not sure if I’ll be going to the gym in the morning, I’m not sure I can cope with being in close proximity to people. That sounds wimpish & weak & hopefully after a nights sleep I will feel differently. Thank you to all those who are helping me on this journey, in a myriad different ways. Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1005 , Wednesday 29/07/2026 Up early to go to the gym, not a bad session although my knee complained about the leg press! Got back did a couple of chores then had breakfast. Had to go for a blood test &, as is the case these days, the phlebotomist had problems fining a willing vein! Mrs S has been pestering me to do the front hedge so I tackled that this morning & then, in a fit of ADHD enthusiasm topped the hawthorn tree. I only had hedge trimmers & a set of long handled loppers to tackle the job & the hawthorn was not for giving in easily as the many scratches on my arms attest! My entire body now hates me, but at least the job is done! I was treated to a chinese takeaway this evening for my efforts so that was nice! It went well with an episode of Cadfael! Final Thoughts. A much, much busier day than I at first envisioned but the front garden looks better, although I need to get out there & tackle the runaway wild strawberries next! A nice quiet day after the chores were completed. A good thing really as my body was whining about all the bending & stretching that happened on Monday! Final Thoughts. Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1003 , Monday 27/07/2026 Monday started early, it being a gym day. Why are Mondays always a struggle! (Prolly all the naught food I have over the weekend & the fact that I still don’t have a set exercise regimen at home - but don’t tell anyone else that!). After breakfast & a few chores Mrs S & I went across to my late MiL’s house - Mrs S to sort thru some bowls & crockery in the kitchen & me to tackle my late FiL’s garage. So many tools! I have made a start, but it will take at least 2 more trips to finish the job I think! We stopped off at Sainsgogs for a late lunch - their meal deal was just what we needed, quick but filling. Then home. Relaxed this afternoon finishing the latest series of ‘For all Mankind’. I do like that show. Salad & roast chicken breasts for tea with strawberries & ice cream for pud while we continued our journey thru the original series of ‘All Creatures Great & Small’ they really do not make TV like that any more (the new version is good but not as good as the original with Christopher Timothy! ) Final Thoughts. A busy day & looking at the garage it does not look like I have made too much progress, but progress has been made! Somehow I have to find some room for the tools I plan to keep! Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1001 , Saturday 25/07/2026 Saturday started just after 7am & we had a relaxed breakfast before I did my chores. Then off across the hills to treat my Dad to a meal at his favourite eatery for his birthday! The journey across took forever as there were roadworks everywhere! We had a Lovely lunch (I admit to succumbing to the temptation of the Brunch but will be having the chicken & beef sizzle that my sister had next time because it looked & smelt fabulous! We had a lovely time & an uneventful trip back. They make some magnificent cakes where we had lunch & being full after the main course said cake was boxed & brought home for a very naughty early supper which we enjoyed while watching ‘Predestination’ a moderately mind bending movie but a decent watch! Final Thoughts. A really good day - it rained on us all the way home but to be fair we really, really need some rain! (For those who are curious it was a truly epic piece of fresh strawberry Victoria sponge cake!) Thank you to all those who are helping me on this journey, in a myriad different ways. Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 997 , Tuesday 21/07/2026 Tuesday started around 7am. I’ve done a few things around the house & in the garden today, nothing major but I’m glad I got them done. Have finally got around to ordering some lockable ladder brackets for our big set of ladders that have been knocking around the back garden without a proper home for far too long. Pulled pork burgers & salad for tea & I caved to the temptation of hitting the strawberries & ice cream for pud. It’s amazing how far one can stretch a punnet with a bit of imagination. Final Thoughts. The weather continues to play nice & that has made today a positively pleasant day. Back to the gym in the morning - still something that needs a force of will, hopefully there will come a time where it is just habit. Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 996 , Monday 20/07/2026 Monday & I reluctantly got my ass down to the gym. Not a bad gym session, I am slowly settling into the current difficulty level on the bike, I am happy with my walk rate on the treadmill, I need a couple more weeks at 5.8 km/h before I take it up to 5.9 - I don’t want to stress my heart too much. I’m firmly stable with the weights, my right arm was hurting after previous sessions but that is now passing as I get stronger. A relaxed rest of the day after doing my chores. Chicken skewers & salad for tea, with, yes you guessed it, strawberries & ice-cream for dessert. Final Thoughts. Not a bad day at all. It’s been a mostly quiet day, a few chores & then an afternoon spent catching up on some of Mrs S’s shows. Huntsman pie and salad for tea, with our favourite strawgogs & ice cream for dessert! Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 993 , Friday 17/07/2026 Friday started bright & early & I managed to get my squirrelly ass down to the gym. Tried the new treadmill - not a fan, (which it lacks, a sad oversight given the current temperatures!). It’s been a productive day in small ways. The coffee machine has been cleaned & descaled, the dishwasher has had a cleaning cycle & a variety of other minor tasks. I got some new shoes for round the house yesterday & they are wonderfully light & comfortable! Pizza for tea with cider to wash it down while we continued with our Babylon 5 fest - currently in the first quarter of series 2. Final Thoughts. It has been another pleasant summer day here in deepest, darkest Yorkshire & while I have not achieved anything significant progress has been made! Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 989 , Monday 13/07/2026 Up at crack of sparrows fart for the gym this morning, despite yesterday’s looooonnnnnnggggg day! Yesterday started out at around 07:30 & after breakfast I cracked on with fitting the shelf over the window (which is actually comprised of 2 shelves that used to be in Mrs S’s study before the epic decorating episode.) sadly the wall is not plum or square or even flat so it Was not as easy as it should have been. Then came the fun bit - fitting the ‘easy fit’ roman blind from Dunelm Mills. The major problem ultimately being that it didn’t hang evenly because one of the cords was tied to the wrong length - I got VERY frustrated with it & I regret to report that I had a total meltdown over it. Anyways that was all fitted by teatime. After a quick break for something to eat I then had to put my room back together … why does tidying up ALWAYS take at least twice as long as the original job! By the time I had done all that, installed the new dual monitor arms & the new bluetooth shelf speakers I treated myself to the other week it was gone 10pm. So by the time I came to write the diary I was exhausted, brain dead & still not a little peeved with the blind nd the world in general. The blind does look the business though, it’s a proper blackout blind & for the first time since moving into that room as my bedroom I slept thru a summers dawn! Sadly I didn’t get too much sleep as my body hated me for all the abuse I had given it! Today has been another busy day. Once I got back from the gym & had had my breakfast we went over to my late MiL’s to clear out the 2 sheds in the garden. This was very messy as the roof had leaked & the mice had moved in. We did find a couple of things that were worth keeping but not much. We also met with a rep from the ‘Clean and Clear’ company that has been hired to spruce the place up. The meeting went well & we await dates & a formal quote in the coming days. Stopped off for lunch (gammon, egg n chips for me) on the way home then a very alzy afternoon watching ‘The Aviator’ from a few years back, & interesting film but one that I would probably not watch again - for one thing at nearly 3 hours long it did drag on a bit! A light salad for tea with strawberries & ice cream for dessert. Final Thoughts. Yesterday left me frazzled & between my efforts then & todays work my spine is in open revolt! But on the other hand I do feel like I have achieved a lot & will go to bed a lot happier than I did last night! Thank you to all those who are helping me on this journey, in a myriad different ways. Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 985 , Thursday 09/07/2026 Thursday started early because my brain hates me! Did some prep work for the shelf that is going over the window in my room at some point soon, but lack of parts (6 x 1½ screws to be precise) stopped play so I have ordered some & play will resume when they arrive. My ADHD side was dominant today so I flitted between minor tasks for much of the day but managed to get some time on the PS5 too. Nuked lasagne for tea - Mrs S wanted it so who am I to argue! Arranged to go out for lunch with my Dad later this month for his birthday. Final Thoughts. Hot as heck today i’m gradually melting away! Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 982 , Monday 06/07/2026 Monday is a gym day so up early, down the gym by 7am & then stumble home 45 minutes later telling myself that it’s all in a good cause! I seem to have done something to my knee, my left kneecap keeps complaining when I come downstairs! Hopefully a day of rest will get it back into working order! Not much else to report for today. It’s been a somewhat overcast day but quite warm so not too bad - looks like we are in for a hot few days again later this week & for the foreseeable future (temps in the high 20s (C). Final Thoughts. Gonna put Kubuntu back on the MBP since windoze failed miserably. Starfield is scratching my spacefaring itch nicely so the need for a working version of Elite has faded. The need for a working laptop though is more pressing. I also need to get the shelf & the blind sorted in my room some time soon! We're AuDHD, but ADHD-specific stuff hits hard sometimes 😅 The Queer Kiwi has done a rare video on ADHD memes, and before the first meme, she said the following: ... some days the ADHD... the ADHD is a little bit hard. And today is one of those days. And uh how you know this is that I am meant to start filming at like midday. I usually end up actually starting to film at like 2:00. Today I sat down to film at 4:30. What did I do all day? I don't know. Nothing. I did nothing. I- I- It was 10:00 in the morning and then it was 4:00 in the evening. What?! That's 6 hours of my life I lost today. I wasn't even procrast-... like I wasn't actively procrastinating. I... my screen time is not high. I wasn't on social media. I wasn't reading my book. I don't know what happened, but I blinked and 6 hours were gone. And now I'm here. 😅🙃 #ADHD #AuDHD #neurodivergent #neurospicy
