Anne Applebaum @anneapplebaum.wsocial.eu Vance, Farage and Weidel posted fear-mongering messages about a Spanish migrant crisis that weren't true. They haven't retracted them. https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/08/ceuta-spain-far-right/688154/?gift=hVZeG3M9DnxL4CekrWGK3wipE_bl_f9oPIM6O7b0BPo #IranWar #Spain #Migrants

The use of AI in UK asylum decision-making is a disaster. AI hallucinated a document that led to an asylum application being denied. Applicants aren't being informed that opaque AI tools are being used in their case, nor being given the opportunity to correct errors churned out by these opaque tools. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/jul/28/home-office-used-ai-hallucinated-information-to-refuse-asylum-claim-judge-suggests #ai #asylum #immigration #migrants #homeoffice #ukpolitics #ukpol

ORG's legal opinion shows that the Home Office's use of AI tools to summarise interviews and key documents in asylum decision-making is likely unlawful. The lack of transparency means that unlawful or unfair decisions may result from AI hallucinations and errors in rewriting critical information.
