New grad students in the #Boston area, you can save significant money on groceries, by walking to #MarketBasket and #TraderJoes. For example, tomatoes today were $1.91/lb. at TJ, vs. 2.99/lb. at WFM (if they have conventional that day; or 3.99/lb. organic). Swiss Miss is 2.59 at MB, but 3.99 at Target. Premium olive oil at MB cost about half what the same SKU cost at Broadway Marketplace. Dream rice milk large size at MB cost the same as small at WFM. Etc. #CambridgeMA #SomervilleMA

Being a New Englander, I'm constantly impressed with how good a value Market Basket is. We spend so much less there on our weekly food bill than we would at Stop & Shop or Shaw's or even Walmart. Having said that, we're spending 10-15% more on average now than we were before the Iran debacle began, so prices are definitely increasing. At least their coffee bar is ridiculously cheap.
