It's been more than 2 years since I posted A Hat in Time running on NVK (Mesa Nvidia Vulkan driver) with reclocking, so I got curious how much it improved since then on the same hardware (my old gaming laptop with GTX 1660 Ti). From probably GPU bound 51fps to being heavily CPU bound 104fps is a pretty nice jump. If I remember correctly, proprietary drivers even when CPU bound is still faster here, so there's still some work to be done. #nvk #nouveau #linux #linux_gaming

I recently purchased a new 2K monitor (27" Acer Nitro 180Hz on sale for 140€) - it gives me plenty of room, but the downside is that running some games on nativer resolution now causes the GPU fans to spin up what they didn't do when I was still running at 1080p, and I don't like the noise. So I started looking at utilizing gamescope to run the game internally at 1920x1080 and scale it to 2560x1440 using FSR. Seems to work rather nicely, I don't see much difference in fidelity and the GPU fans stay nice and quiet. #gaming #Linux_gaming
