I'm not sure what it is - calm silence, soft sound of water lapping against the kayak hull or feeling close to nature, being able to observe birds and insects in their natural environment, but I find paddling incredibly relaxing. Several hours on water feels like minutes leaving all the stress behind. It is similar to the feeling I sometimes get with mindfullness meditation, but it's stronger and the effects last longer. #paddling #kayaking #kayak #poland #nature #relax #lake

Today I've been kayaking around Seil. And as I passed Easdale along the way I had to stop and see the island and the remains of the slate-industry here. And obviously enjoy the view. This was far more impressive than the bridge over the atlantic - though that was fun 😁 Oh. Should you go kayaking there: beware of the tidal current in and out of Cuan Sound. It can turn into a maelstrom. And I did hear that Cuan Sound! It didn't sound healthy! #kayaking #slate #easdale

So: One year ago I got my new paddle. A "roofing batten" as some german paddlers call it. And just yesterday a passing sailor commemted.on the beautiful paddle. It has been my trusted thrust-companion on over 500km on oceans, seas, lakes and rivers through all conditions up to 5 beaufort in this last year. TIL: Seals (animal! Not soldier!) want at least 100 meter distance between them and you. And that's less than it looks like! And you better make sure that you keep it. Otherwise they make you! (Neither seals nor kayakers were harmed during the learning process 🙈) #Kayaking

It’s been a hectic day, and I’m tired and a little stressed. But I need to remind myself that the main reason I’m stressed is that a) I spent last weekend kayaking with the kids; and b) that I will spend all of next week taking a freestyle #whitewater #kayaking course on the Soča river. So it’s a nice problem to have.

Whoever thought it'd be a good idea to get up at 6:30 on a sunday to do a kayaking marathon should get lost.... 🥱 Oh wait... That was me 🙈 Ah well. Now that I'm up I can also just do the 42km on the Lahn. #kayaking
