It's a long, and embarrassing, story, but we finally own our house again. Quite a lot of years ago we were persuaded to put our house into a Family Protection Trust. While these might be right for some people - we were effectively conned into this as it was totally the wrong direction for our situation. We are not alone and there's an increasing amount of publicity about the issue (search McClures solicitors for the story). Knowing this has alleviated some of the feeling stupid feelings Unraveling this has been a job for a solicitor who specialises in extracting people like us from the web of complexity these Trusts create. She has been efficient as well as sympathetic. It's been expensive and time consuming, as well as a worry. But, it's over and we can move on. #FamilyProtectionTrust #Solicitor #LegalAdvice #HomeOwnership

Donald Trump made promises that he would increase affordability for Americans, but in a Cabinet meeting today, he seemed to suggest the opposite. Of current homeowners, he said: "We're not gonna destroy the value of their homes so that somebody who didn't work very hard can buy a home." Here's the full story from @people@flipboard.com. https://flip.it/_9gwrH #USNews #USPolitics #TrumpAdministration #Affordability #HomeOwnership

I know I said a couple of days ago I was staying off the "Internet" and I have succeeded, but in my mind #Mastodon is not the Internet, far from it. It is my safe/happy place. So I am still here. And here is today's #GoodNews from the casa: Old spark arrestor screen on my wood stove chimney pipe was rotted and clogged. Could not find a suitable replacement, so I bought $6 worth of bulk screen and made my own. Fits WAY better than previous screen. #Homeownership #Projects #NewOneEveryDay
