It's a long, and embarrassing, story, but we finally own our house again.
Quite a lot of years ago we were persuaded to put our house into a Family Protection Trust.
While these might be right for some people - we were effectively conned into this as it was totally the wrong direction for our situation.
We are not alone and there's an increasing amount of publicity about the issue (search McClures solicitors for the story).
Knowing this has alleviated some of the feeling stupid feelings
Unraveling this has been a job for a solicitor who specialises in extracting people like us from the web of complexity these Trusts create. She has been efficient as well as sympathetic.
It's been expensive and time consuming, as well as a worry.
But, it's over and we can move on.
