@Saorsa@neondystopia.world Recently came upon guixpkgs: https://fzakaria.com/2026/06/25/guixpkgs-every-guix-package-as-a-nix-flake So step by step we are closer to convergence of both systems where one can use any and end user can migrate with just 1 or few lines in their config❤️ Since both systems are a pure functional code, I think that characteristic itself made them easily portable/bridgeable/interoperable as language agnostic system. #nix #guix #nixos #guixos #Linux

@Saorsa@neondystopia.world I aim to see one day where people can configure in the language of choice like nix or guix or anything else and choose the underlyingSystem = nix/guix and just like that it's enough to convert my whole os to guixos from nixos. Far dream, but since both systems are OS as Code, it's possible. #nix #nixos #guix #guixos #OS #linux

You CAN use other configuration languages like JSON or YAML for structuring Nix options. Though using Nix directly of course is the intended way of doing things. Suppose it would be a matter of developing a Linux distribution agnostic package manager that allowed orchestration in multiple languages.
