Y por favor. Cuando habléis de #futbol usad el hashtag o algo. Que ya uno silencia palabras clave, como “gol” o “penalti” pero no quiero silenciar nombres de países o palabras más genéricas que dan polisemia como “partido” o “banda”… y me estáis rallando mucho todos hablando de lo mismo. Es la primera vez (que recuerde) que me aburre estar en mastodon.

I'm not a football fan, or maybe I just like top-level football (like everything else I like). I only watch a few important matches every four years, during the World Cup. This year the overall level has been very good, with several good teams and many good players. The final was a great match and a well-deserved victory for Spain. But this is the first time I've seen the repercussions on #mastodon and what has surprised me is the extraordinary number of idiots there are (not that I didn't know) and the stupid ideas they have. The mere fact that they mix politics (or what they think is politics) with almost everything they do and see (the little they understand) clearly demonstrates their intellectual deficiency. These things make me use social media less and less, or use it in "read-only" mode, so as not to waste time and energy on idiotic people. I'll think more carefully about how to use this. #argentina #worldcup #esparg #futbol

only watched the last 5 minutes of #LaCopadelMundo because people in my neighborhood totally lost their shit when #LaFuriaRoja scored. so i didn't tune in because my neighbors’ oohs and aaaahs were telling a whole story. just wanna shoutout #Telemundo #TelemundoDeportes because they have three women analysts in the studio, to balance out all-male sportscasting team on-site. i think BBC1 is the only one with as many women on their #FIFA #soccer #futbol team. #WorldCup2026 #Copa2026

The #WorldCup ends, but Americans, you still have your own #MLS league to follow. Tickets and beverages are much cheaper and it's a great family outing. There are also the local #USL sides, such as Monterey, Oakland, SacTown, and OC in #California. Buy a shirt, show support, grow the game. #Futbol #Soccer #MastodonFC

He estado mirando un poco hoy periodistas argentinos por el tema del #futbol . Hoy juega Argentina VS España la final del mundial. La cosa es que he flipado con un periodista Argentino que manifiesta su odio profundo hacia los Mexicanos. Dice que los Mexicanos sienten envidia de los Argentinos por el tema fútbol. Y creo que esto es un grave error. Dice que los Mexicanos "quieren ser como nosotros" Quizás en Argentina el fútbol es muy importante pero en general a la gente nos la suda bastante.

So there's a kid down the street into the world cup action and he has a big long horn he blows every once in awhile. This has been going on for over a week. It always prompts me to a moment of mantra and recollection. It sounds very much like a conch shell being blown. Maybe the kid is accumulating merit! Maybe I've been watching too much world-cup soccer... Or played too much as a kid. But tonight, when I got beat in my beer-league ice-hockey game, I decided to go with the soccer rules: you can take out the player on a slide tackle so long as you contact the puck first, right? My goalie seemed to agree I did the right thing. Fist bumps on the way to the penalty box.
