No, non è un modo di dire, ma è proprio quello che sta accadendo nella foresta di Fontainebleau, a sud-est di Parigi, dove dalla scorsa notte è in corso un incendio di “proporzioni eccezionali”. Un rogo che, secondo quanto riferiscono le autorità francesi, ha richiesto un dispiegamento di risorse senza precedenti nella regione dell’Île-de-France, dove il traffico ferroviario è stato interrotto.
Le immagini diffuse sui social mostrano un’enorme colonna di fumo che si alza dalla foresta ed è visibile fino a 20 chilometri di distanza. Per tentare di domare le fiamme, oltre ai mezzi dei vigili del fuoco, sono intervenuti anche gli agricoltori, che hanno agganciato cisterne d’acqua ai propri trattori. Al momento sarebbero almeno 400 i vigili del fuoco impegnati nelle operazioni di spegnimento.
Secondo quanto dichiarato dal comandante Paul-Edouard Laurain, portavoce del Servizio dipartimentale antincendio e di soccorso (Sdis), il rogo avrebbe già devastato oltre 800 ettari di foresta nel giro di poche ore.
L’incendio, descritto come “molto intenso” dai servizi di emergenza, potrebbe richiedere una o due settimane di interventi per essere completamente domato. A dichiararlo è stato Yannis Bouzar, viceprefetto di Fontainebleau, durante una conferenza stampa, precisando che saranno inviati rinforzi da tutta la Francia.
“L’obiettivo è salvare vite umane e beni materiali”, ha affermato il tenente colonnello Eric Brocardi, portavoce della Federazione nazionale dei vigili del fuoco di Francia.

Images circulating on social media show a massive column of smoke rising from the forest and visible up to 20 kilometers away. To try to tame the flames, firefighters were joined by farmers who attached water tanks to their tractors. At present, at least 400 firefighters are engaged in firefighting operations.
According to Commander Paul-Edouard Laurain, spokesperson for the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis), the fire has already devastated over 800 hectares of forest in just a few hours.
The fire, described as “very intense” by emergency services, could require one or two weeks of operations to be completely extinguished. This was stated by Yannis Bouzar, vice-prefect of Fontainebleau, during a press conference, specifying that reinforcements would be sent from across France.
