Holy cow, I was NOT ready for the awesomeness that is the #grimnoir series by #LarryCorreia! I picked up the #audiobook for the first title, #hardmagic, on sale and immediately consumed as much as i could find shortly after completing that. Set in an alternative 1930s where people are (since the 1850s) being born with magic powers. The stories play out between a few main characters and some superb supporting roles across 3 main novels and 4 novellas/companion pieces that sees struggles for power, government involvement to "control" those with powers and lots of espionage and action. Correia works in real world events into the timeline, but customises them to fit the world (ie- the Titanic is mentioned in a news broadcast as celebrating the anniversary of it's maiden voyage having been saved by an ice magic individual helping to avoid hitting the ice berg). Its a lot or fun and I'm sad there isn't more to the universe started here.

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of enjoying #michaelmammay's 4th novel in his Planetside series, #Darkside. Once again following the adventures of Carl Butler, this time actually retired... Sort of... as he agrees to take on a case of a missing father brought to him by a young girl. What plays out is a tale much like the other novels in this series with butler investigating shady corpos and their greed. A bit of side story compared to the trilogy, but one with the same smart writing, likeable characters and decent pace.

#FinishedReading ‘What does it feel like?’ by Sophie Kinsella.
I should read more novellas. I think if I wrote a book it would be a novella.
I’ve never read any of Sophie Kinsella’s books. I found this one funny, thoughtful, and honest (although fiction she refers to it as inspired by her life).

#FinishedReading ‘Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow’ by Gabrielle Zevin.
A really enjoyable read with a long timeline (which I enjoy too). I can see why it was a best seller.
…Plus, finishing a decent length book in 20 days?!? What a revelation (reminder) reading everyday is. Love it.
