Something that doesn't need a growing staff of Sideqiks to keep functioning as it scales up. If they won't do it, maybe it's time for someone to do with Mastodon what BackDrop did with Drupal? A fork optimistised for small community deployments. #FediDevs

I am a subscription contributor to the #Mastodon project, but even I have to wonder why they bother expending the effort building features like collections and quote posts, when in practice, they are not useful.

My posts on Mastodon say that no one is permitted to quote-boosts my posts — yet I never made that choice. (I'm actually OK with others quote-boosting my posts.) I know enough to be aware this. Most aren't. A very large number of people have no idea that someone else made this choice for them. I suspect the vast majority of them would have chosen the opposite.
