I picked one of the characters that gave us one of the best cliffhangers in 90s tv sci fi (John Sheridan), so now I'm picking the other for #FavCharacterW: William T. Riker from Star Trek: The Next Generation. I know he's basically a meme now, the way Kirk is, but Riker isn't actually the himbo fratboy that people seem to think he is (also several instances of him being a "womanizer" are him being assaulted but people don't think of it that way). Riker is intelligent, thoughtful, & open-minded, and to me he's always represented an ideal of safe and respectful masculinity. He's clever, resourceful & beaten Picard in ship combat 3 times. I always felt like the Enterprise should have been his. Also he's dated a trans woman & an immortal assassin, so that's also cool. #FavCharacterAtoZ
