@ascentale@sfba.social @bikenite@fedigroups.social A8. These were 180 degrees from one another so I could not fit it into one shot. Using an upright bike as "curb appeal", something I find VERY common for businesses in a number of countries. Here, the fake bike has pride of place near the entrance where ordinarily you'd put a cycle rack. To the other side, you see what infrastructure there is for parking actual non-decorative upright bikes. #CarCentrism #CycleParkingAudit #BikeNite

When I see abled cyclists I know see my posts about accessibility say that an inaccessible rack is "cool", I get overwhelmed by what an uphill battle it is fighting ableism in cycling (and ableism in general). #Ableism #CycleParkingAudit #BikeTooter #Accessibility

@plactagonic@f.cz There's something called the "curbcut effect" where abled people ALSO benefit from and use accessibility that disabled people fought for. The trick is getting abled people to join us in that fight while it's going on instead of simply riding coattails. Saw two different "artistic" cycle racks posted today and just hit my patience limit. :) Good ol' Sheffield rack pretty much can't be beat, in my opinion. It needs to be combined with good spacing, good siteing, and good anchorage, but as far as the design of the rack itself, it is the one accessible to the most different kinds of cycle frame designs. #CycleParkingAudit #BikeTooter
