This is why Spain and France (and especially the border between them) make me so hopping mad. How you can spend billions and billions on new infra, and STILL not get to your destination when your trip is something a fraction more complex than Sevilla - Barcelona or Lyon - Lille I can forgive Romania being crap I cannot forgive France or Spain being crap #LongestTrainEU #CrossBorderRail

Way to go DSB 🤣 On your *national* website you have Hamburg ZOB listed, and that's the Zentralomnibusbahnhof (bus station) (pic 1, 2) To get a train to Hamburg Hbf, the main station, you need to use the DSB International website (pic 3) https://www.dsb.dk/en/international/ But to Flensburg - which is in Germany - *is* on the national site. Totally makes sense (pic 4) #LongestTrainEU #CrossBorderRail

And of course I am taking trains *to* Kemijärvi, and *back* from Lagos, and going to 20 more #CrossBorderRail lines on the way. A beer at the station restaurant while waiting for the night train. To Oulu (or Kemi, for one hour longer sleep) and then taking the first regular train from Finland to Sweden in 38 years. #crossBorderRail

Don’t you just love #CrossBorderRail 🙄 DB can tell me platforms for all stations in Germany but not Poland, Portal Pasażera can tell me the opposite Oh and the train arrival time differs 2 mins as well

What makes me particularly nervous about the future of old Grand-Est stock are these ugly blue blobs here, the 30 cross-border Régiolis. As long as they're not used on the #CrossBorderRail lines they were bought for (and for me, it's impossible to tell whether they ever will be), SNCF deploys them on domestic diagrams, where they replace older stock. And with nearly 30 units (a few are in service to Offenburg), you can replace quite a lot. #LaFranceTractée

Good morning from the futuristic station of Poprad-Tatry. This red GTW as the reason why I rushed here last night. I think we already established that Slovakia’s #CrossBorderRail an be … challenging. This train goes north from here into Poland. There are two trains a day. On weekends. During the holidays. So, yeah: I couldn’t have taken my time and be here tomorrow, because the train isn’t. Anyway: we’re going to Poland, everyone!

On the rails again… #Interrail #CrossBorderRail Today @wendy@mendeddrum.org and I are on the well-trodden (sat?) path to home in Barcelona from Karlsruhe. Today’s itinerary: https://moof.space/trips/2026-07-22 I have taken this trip a number of times now, and it’s always bittersweet. Especially the days I leave @darkphoenix@not.an.evilcyberhacker.net behind and continue on my own. That being said, once I’ve made my 17 minute change in Strasbourg, it’s smooth sailing. A trip to Lyon, time for lunch, and then the long, comfortable ride in the AVE direct to Barcelona. This has become if not a second home, at least a gentle way to tell my brain that I can switch off travel mode and get ready for being home again. I am always a bit nervous for this Strasbourg change, as a 10 minute delay for this train makes the change of platform very complicated. I was watching the ICE from Stuttgart, that supposedly leaves half an hour before this one, in case it was the better option, but it’s currently at +61. So I picked the right train. Allons-y!

Damn what are Norrtåg doing now? 🤔 Even the extra train Haparanda - Boden on the day Tornio - Haparanda opens (10 August) is not available And every train *other than* the midday train on every subsequent day is also not available for purchase This launch is 3 weeks away, and data and ticketing are STILL a total shit show #CrossBorderRail
