Don’t use #Meta products anymore, but I have in the past. Today, I got an email from the company, and this was the first sentence: “The setting to disconnect your off-Meta activity is going away.” Because…of course it is. This continued #enshittification of the #internet in general and social media specifically is predatory corporate BS - and #TechBros are making it harder and harder to opt out - without taking drastic steps. #SurveillanceCapitalism is predicated on collecting our data to use against us in the marketplace, and lately…to use against us in the political arena as well. It didn’t have to be this way. Thank goodness for the #fediverse, for #FOSS and for those hardy souls who continue to resist #CorporateGreed and #CorporateTerrorism.
