RE: https://mastodon.social/@rsmon77/117496508523048151 In a few minutes, the #ActionMatinee #WatchParty will begin, with many toots. You can mute the hashtag for the next couple of hours... or join us! #ActionMatinee #TheExpanse

Join #ActionMatinee this Saturday at 2 PM Eastern for more of The Expanse! You can find this week’s episodes (“Force Projection” and “Redoubt”) on Amazon Prime. See you there!

@AlsoPaisleyCat@tenforward.social @Phangurl@tenforward.social @thearkchat@fedigroups.social re: starting #TheArk's 3pm ET slot early one time during #KungFuSat (Sats 12-2pm ET) - a fundamental tenet of our #WatchParty is @MatthewTitus88@mastodon.social & I always select films available WITHOUT a paid service (YT, Tubi, etc.) You note PER ASPERA AD ASTRA (2026) is only available on Netflix, neither of us even have, so that's a no for KFS. I can't speak for @rsmon77@mastodon.social who hosts #ActionMatinee (Sats 2-4pm ET) and chooses his own content, currently THE EXPANSE.

For a taste of the excellent wirefu in Ad Aspera Ad Astra here are the two leads Dylan Wang and Victoria Song in a behind the scenes clip.

@Phangurl@tenforward.social thanks for letting me know!

Disasters on colonial sleeper ships seems to be it’s very own SciFi subgenre.

Perhaps I will run a poll…

My preference would to be to kick off with a one time joint watch of the movie Per Aspera Ad Astra (2026) from Mainland China in collaboration with #KungFuSat and #ActionMatinee if their hosts are up for it.

The movie takes place on a colonial sleeper ship which wakes up a sysadmin to check out the AI responsible for the virtual environments of the sleepers. A bit of Star Trek professionalism and holodeck malfunctions, the Matrix, and tributes to old HK action movies mixed in.

It’s a fun ride but only available for streaming on Netflix.

Man the #KungFuSat film was extra-long today, but the time flew by just like that. Ready for #ActionMatinee

Fists of fury. Impressive. #actionmatinee

@MatthewTitus88@mastodon.social a #KungFuSat film all squeezed into 2 seconds #ActionMatinee

@rsmon77@mastodon.social Welcome, current host & my successor at #ActionMatinee#KungFuSat #Unleashed2005 #DannyTheDog

#kungfusat I’ll be hosting #ActionMatinee in a bit, plus music from Dolly Parton and Tim Curry on #StewARama later today! Have a great weekend!

Missing #KungFuSat & #ActionMatinee to deal with plumbers makes me feel like Thunder when he found out Lo Pan was dead. You folks have fun!

I finally got around to watching Matrix Revolutions after twenty-some years and... I liked it. I liked it way more than Reloaded (Matrix 2, if you will) and more than I expected to. The story was solid, even though like many movies, there are plot holes. I got over Keanu's lack of acting pretty quickly and appreciated the rest of the cast. The effects were great and they didn't over use the CGI copy-and-paste too much, except for the Sentinels, but having thousands of those flying around is baked into the story, eh. I was engaged all the way through and so yeah, thumbs up! 👍 #monsterdon and #actionmatinee - what do you think of this 2003 flick?

Missed #KungFuSat but am here for expanse #actionmatinee
