@mousey@mastodon.seattlematrix.org @ms_zwiebel@tech.lgbt the devs just added a new star system (Nyx) that's, in lore, a breakaway socialist colony of people who left the (capitalist) Empire to form their own government (People's Alliance of Levski). The game portrays their society and governing structure in a refreshingly positive light (despite it being saddled with the usual media tropes of "resource scarcity on the edge of society" and "harried by attacks from gangs, so they have to ask the capitalists for help" that seem to come with socialism in media nowadays)

@mousey@mastodon.seattlematrix.org @ms_zwiebel@tech.lgbt yeah that sounds a lot like the dream of what Star Citizen wants to be; multi-faceted simulation of a (somewhat dystopian but also somewhat hopeful) space civilization based almost entirely on the individual choices of players, where the focus is on making your way through a living universe instead of completing arbitrary objectives. Maybe still a bit lone-wolfy, but there's lots of room for something else in that framework too
but they're still AT LEAST 3 years away from anything resembling that
