@kerravonsen I’d say you could do it as a trim on about anything that doesn’t need to stretch a lot? You could do a mug rug to try it out. I think I saw someone on here do a two colour version just a couple of days ago.

@Pinky have you encountered the black and white picture-trick already? (If you can tell the difference between yarn colours on a greyscale photo they will contrast, if you can’t they will blend.) Don’t know whether painters use that too but it’s come in handy for me a lot.

@teabynameteabynature@cupoftea.social Tribe Yarns is owned by a non-white woman. Stitches and Cream is very focused on British yarns and sustainability. So is John Arbon, which is a wool mill that also sells directly to customers. The latter two are owned by white women.
We’re going to stay at a friend’s house tomorrow for a couple of hours because we’ll have work people in the house, and I, through severe discipline, managed to only pack 16 balls of yarn to tide me over, please clap
(They’re just 50g balls as well. I’m getting nervous all over typing this.)

@brainofdane that will get a lot better when you’re used to it, although I think crochet is considered faster on average. But when my husband’s complaining he spent TWO WHOLE EVENINGS on a shirt and he’s STILL NOT DONE sewing it I lose track of the difference between knitting and crochet 🤭

@brainofdane not in Norway 🤭 but you’re right, in the Netherlands (where I am) “English” style is prevalent. There are lots of videos on YouTube in continental though.

@brainofdane Stocking stitch is when you knit one row and purl on the way back. It gives you the typical knitting v’s on one side, little bumps on the other, and curls a lot (that’s inherent to the fabric and not your fault). If you knit one stitch, then purl the next, then knit, then purl it’s 1x1 rib. You’ll be doing a lot of that in your knitting career too.
It’s hard because the yarn has to move from back (knit) to front (purl). There’s a lot to remember before it automates.

@brainofdane the key to stitches not being tight is relaxing, I’m afraid. I chose to learn “continental” where you tension with your left hand just like with crochet, that helped me!

Anyone have a kid who loves flowers? I’ve test knitted for Melanie several times and it has always been a great experience. Definitely recommend knitting for her (and this pattern is soooooo pretty)

I use both my non-decorated (coloured) and decorated stitch markers to mark the same thing in different projects. Pink undecorated or one of my Emma Ball decorated stitch markers for beginning of round. Blue undecorated or one of the sea shell decorated for raglan lines. Green or the mushrooms for pattern repeats. If there are lots of pattern repeats, I make a little rainbow so I can notice I’m getting through the row.
