So apparently you pay 12 EUR base fee + 8 EUR per line items starting at the 6th one. Line items are not the line items of the original invoice, but rather any unique combination of the tuple (HS_Code, Country_Of_Origin). So I had 9 types of connectors, using the same HS code, but some from US and some from CN so that counts as 2 lines items. Then some electronic components but even if those have the same HS Code, because they come from CN,US,TW,KR,MM that counts as 5 line items.

WTF... FedEx is trying to charge me extra fees that are about the same as the total value of the imported goods because there was several different items ...

I mean yeah it was a LCSC order with like 14 different components, total 80 EUR or so and they want an exta 76 EUR or processing fees for the multiple items !?!?!?!

(In addition to the 25 EUR VAT but that I expect ...)

I'm looking for a Dataman S4 GAL module ( adapter to program PAL/GAL on the S4 ). It's not a simple wiring adapter it has some logic in it but pictures I have are too low res to build a replica from ...

If you have one or know someone that might, please reach out. Thanks !

@trcwm So in a tinytapeout chip, we put all the basic circuit element in the diagram above and then a bunch of analog switches to allow to interconnect them, a bit like a tiny analog fpga.

At first I was thinking graph homomorphism, making a graph representing all available components and nets and switches, then one describing the connectivity I want and search for subgraphs. But because sometime you need to go through 2 or 3 switches, ATM I can't immediately thing of how that would map.

Any algo nerd here ?

I got some basic analog elements ( transistors, ... ) and a bunch of analog switches between them ( about 162 of them ).

Then I have a netlist representing a circuit I'd like implemented.

And the question is how do I get from the circuit netlist to a configuration of switches that implements that netlist.

If a configuration exists, I want to find it. Ideally find all of them so I can "rank" them. I can't blindly try all of them, 2^162 is ... big.

So I'm curious what people would like to see next on the PCIe/fiber project :

* Finalizing the PCIe analyzer, running gateware on the alibaba card getting the whole thing in shape for release.

* Or moving the link to x4 using QSFP and raising speed to gen3, delving a bit into PCIe switches ICs and such.

It won't be the very next video in either case, still lots of work to do and I will get to both eventually but I'm wondering what to give priority to.

Thanks everyone, got it working ! Trick was to indeed use 0x3018[7:5] to select lane count except values is 010 for 2 lanes and 001 for 1 lane which is not what datasheet says. I had tried this (even with those values, I tried them all) but it's not enough. You also need to tweak the 0x3106[3:2] to adjust pixel clock vs mipi clock relationship. Without that the change above does disable lane 2 but it also screws up lane 1 and you don't even get packet headers. That's the bit I was missing.

@wren6991 Yeah, that's what I already tried. Doc says 001 is 2 lane mode ... but 010 is what's written by every init sequence in all the drivers which is a value that's not even valid according to the datasheet. I'll give it another shot, maybe I hadn't change HTS and this was causing it to refuse to properly switch who knows. And I suspect you're right about the doc. From what I hear, omnivision tells you what to write and that's it 😅

@timonsku @wren6991 Yes, the very first one. But see https://chaos.social/@tnt/116373889032852683 ... that datasheet is full of errors and the init sequences used by drivers writes to plenty of registers with value that make no sense if interpreted by that datasheet. It says "preliminary" on it and I swear they must have changed 1/4 of the registers in there ...

Just for fun I've been sort of abusing the differential receiver ( clk + data + deserializer ) project that I had in TT08. It occured to me it should work fine for MIPI-CSI. So I wired a RPi v1 camera to it, and capture the deserialized output with a logic analyzer and I can extract image data out of it 🎉

The RPi camera is 2 lanes and I can only capture one, so I'm missing half the data and there are a lot of hacks to compensate for that but ... it's possible to RX MIPI in #tinytapeout !

@teilweise No, some of the registers match their description and are consistent with the init values. You can find linux kernel drivers for this module but they pretty much rely on hard coded init sequence for the most part. But when you parse those, some register will match and things like PLL param or image size match. But then some other part write to undocumented register. And none of those drivers have init for single lane mode.

@teilweise Yes, it's that datasheet. And I think in that link they're talking about he rpicam v1 / v2. I'm using the rpi cam v1. The v2 doesn't even use an ov5647 it's another sensor. I didn't try to contact OVT no. Just submitted through their form but I don't expect much. They're quite notorious for not caring if you're not the one buying.

I need help from the #fediverse to figure out how to configure an OV5647 sensor to output on a single MIPI lane.

The leaked datasheet I have is ... basically useless. The description of the registers doesn't match reality. There are several bits in there related to mipi lanes, none of them act as one expect and the default value of the register doesn't even make sense if you relate it to the datasheet.

So if anyone has a working config, or a contact at omnivision they could ask ...

If you're a swiss resident ( or know one ... ) you can get a custom hardware design onto an ASIC for FREE !!! You get back one chip with your design (and a bunch of others!) and some board to help bring up/testing. Also, this is "resident", no need to be a student or at uni or anything, you just need a valid Swiss address ... I know I might be repeating myself here because I mentioned it a few month back but this bear repeating IMHO. https://swisschips.ethz.ch/news-and-events/tiny-tapeout-submission-form.html PS: Can I haz boost for reach ?
