@badbede@deacon.social there’s a plot line where demons (monsters that look like humans with horns and can speak well) come under banner of truce and are treated like diplomats by the people who run the city, albeit reluctantly. The whole thing is an act, to undermine the defenses and allow demons to overrun the city.
So the metaphor is that, sin will only come under flag of truce to attempt to undermine us from within. It’s a good show, the anime is a wonderful adaptation and the English language voices are very good.
The Wesleyan perspective was a very helpful corrective. So much of, you know, fundamentalist sweaty tent revival preaching against sinners and sinfulness takes the note of “you sinners disgust me” instead of “this drinking will destroy you and you are precious to God, and He won’t let you go without a fight, so here I am imploring you ‘be reconciled to Christ!’”
