@BenAveling@mastodon.world There’s no debate on whether reverse racism exists, which card you just tried to play again. You’re confusing racism with prejudice. The oppression system called racism can’t be suffered by white people here, as people do not suffer oppression here for being white. You haven’t been trying to open your ears to any of this, but others reading here might. You won’t hear this for two reasons then, since I’ve blocked you now as hopelessly lost in your racist rhetoric.

Arguing—that your amateur grasp of linguistic pragmatics could be used to excuse your misreading is more urgent than the original fact of the race-motivated harassment she continues to receive—is foolish and misses what’s important in this thread *that you have inserted yourself into*. Are you committed to your own comfort on Mastodon, or to supporting an anti-racist Mastodon. That is the bottom line.

The implication is that it is a significant number and therefore worth studying. That last—significance worth studying—is entirely her judgment, since its her reading list and project. It doesn't say all men are: rich, white, straight. That's clearly false. No worries, that is not what it claims at all. "The rich white men" is a set. Think of it as a circle that contain only people who are rich AND white AND men. It's further constrained by "who hold power over all of us". That's a smaller circle inside the larger. See it?

What's offensive in the post? You're up in these mentions defending the deletion—which was overturned as a mistake, you should note. So defend your position. State what's offensive. Cut straight to the heart of your position and leave out the quibbles around the edges. You are, after all, the one who butted in.

Agree, “truth = inoffensive” is false. Tracy’s post can still be inoffensive for a different reason that is true. Such as:

It was not using an antisemitic trope
It’s not offensive to point out that white men still have the vast majority of power (money, political, etc.) in our world.
Reading diversely on purpose counters documented publishing skew.

Telling POC they cannot reference the “us vs. them” constructed by white people vs. POC is tone policing people’s own criticism and resistance against the unwanted position of “them” that they’ve been assigned, often violently. Don’t do that, okay? And no, “white people who control the world” is not at all an antisemitism analogy, it’s plain description.

It’s worth noting that the “official” client is the baby of the bunch and is missing a lot of features. There isn’t really anything special about its officialness either, since Mastodon itself is a federation with no official leader. It just has a stamp of approval from the main code-writer.
