@s_hulard@mamot.fr because all the content is part of the project and can be useful (docs, tests...) In this particular project (phalcon), the real sources (ext dir) are not even exported. PIE is only a tool, a way to install an extension, but not the only one. If a tool requires such a workaround, this is a BAD tool which needs to be fixed/improved. And nowadays, who cares about a few MB in a temporary directory?

Some #PHP extensions (e.g. phalcon) start using the .gitattributes file for their project :(

This makes PHP ridiculous to other language users.

I understand the goals for libraries (workaround the lack of a real installer), but this makes no sense for extensions.

#Fedora changes of this week

All #PHP extensions, coming from PECL and also available in packagist (PIE), have been cleaned of pecl stuff (25 packages for now).

So "php-pear" is no longer required at build or runtime.
