This afternoon is me versus a very complicated shelf. This is just the frame, I've got 25 individual boxes and an instruction book that's like a computer manual.

A blustery but beautiful run this morning. Rain held off until I was driving home.

I see LLMs as a useful tool, in the way that I see spreadsheets as a useful tool. I also think that the people who are advocating the use of AI for everything are wrong in the same way they would be if they told me I should use a spreadsheet for everything...
Some thoughts on whether you need AI for whatever it is you are doing.

Last week I spoke at the very lovely Web Day Out about browser support. One of the things I mentioned was how the data behind Baseline gives you a way to look into the future of the web platform. I've written some more about that on my blog https://rachelandrew.co.uk/archives/2026/03/20/look-into-the-future-of-the-web-platform/

It was -3C when I left the house. Our feet were breaking through ice into freezing water on the waterlogged hilltop. But those views!

Last week I ended up in ankle deep stinky mud so I left my trail shoes outside. Wore my road shoes the last two days so forgot about them. They have frozen. Hoping I can defrost them before going out today!

I've been away for a week, Em would like a cuddle but is also annoyed with me. I can feel her glare.

Did the X-border 10k today. This sounds more exciting than the reality, which is a race from an industrial park 🏴 near Carlisle to a shopping outlet in Gretna 🏴 alongside the M6.

A windy and wet run along Hadrian's Wall. On days like this you really get a sense of this being wild border country. While warmly wrapped up in technical running gear, that is!

If I'd known, when I went to the dentist yesterday, that the visit would result in three stitches in my mouth, I might have had a better lunch. I am starving and considering buying babyfood.
I also would have done it on a day where I didn't have to go right into a three hour meeting. I did turn off my camera so the other attendees didn't have to watch me, quite literally, drooling blood.

My endless going down of strange rabbit holes does create some amusing ad targeting in my social media accounts. That said, I'm very puzzled as to why I'm being encouraged to attend "the UK’s only dedicated exhibition for the concrete community".

For years, I've been hoping for more of the paged media specifications to come to browsers. In the next version of Chrome (131, now in beta) the ability to create your own header and footer content for printed content is here! Find out more in this post.
