That doesn't stop them from publishing the apps with a different name, but you wont get users with a random name. And those who do won't confuse the app with NewPipe.

Hence we founded the association with clear goals to not allow this to happen, and we are very open to expand to more projects. It's a bit of a challenge to formulate all these thoughts and legal reasoning, but in a nutshell German associations are bound to their statue goals, and you can only change these goals with a 2/3 majority. So as long as enough of the people behind the projects join the association, you can assure this never happens.
