Holiday #diy #electronics audio project. This one is a 4-channel solid state relay for turn-on/off mute and shutdown (speaker protection) if DC is detected on any channel.
While it would be smaller if implemented in a micro, it's all discrete circuitry in the hope that it is both reliable and repairable.
Board from pcbway; it was loaded (and hotplate reflowed) yesterday but not tested yet. Full design will be published on my github if it passes testing.

It seems you can (with some care) host activitypub posts on a static httpd. I hope/expect to see tooling soon that converts a downloaded archive into a directory suitable for web-hosting, which would allow people to fairly-easily self-host their own back-catalogue without needing to run a real instance, with all software maintenance that that implies.

@ifixcoinops@mstdn.social importing a person is one thing, but importing a massive history of posts is another entirely. It has moderation liability for the instance owner: what potentially *bad* stuff might be in an imported archive? And when will the bad stuff surface?
Moderation is hard enough in real-time without needing to regularly inspect a bolus of posts arriving in an import.

@eviltrout@carpdiem.online this may be true on its face, but the Reddit API lockdown appears to be in response to scraping by LLM vendors rather than an attempt to profit from API charging - otherwise they would have agreed on a price.
Are we happy that mastodon, in its openness, is entirely open to scraping (enclosure of a commons) by LLM/SALAMI systems?
IMHO it's not really ideal.
