i don't remember their exact answer because there wasn't really any. many years later, in December 2025, Google discontinued instant apps.
i think they were onto something. it's cool to be able to just use apps without installing them. it's just... we already have it.

a long time ago, at a conference, a guy from Google gave a talk about the cool new thing, "instant apps". Android apps that you don't need to install. just open them and start using right away! and it will only download the pages you open. crazy!
when the time for QA came, people formed a long queue to the mic. i was the first. i asked: "so, how is it different from web apps?". the minute i said it, almost everyone left the queue, muttering: "damn, that was my question".

if you made something 10% faster, you did something clever. if you make something 10x faster, you used to do something stupid 🙃

sqlc is now mostly vibe-coded and it shows. if you want to lock a stable version, v1.29.0 is the last one made by humans.

that's pretty much the best description of any video editing tool. they all have the same weird UX with the same weird behaviors. i suspect everyone just copies some old editor that copies how videos were physically edited in the past century. the result is the UX that makes sense only to someone with a lot of prior experience.

i'd just use if-else. but the "proper" way is to use translations, then it can handle language-specific pluralization rules:

thank you for all your contributions to the world, Ayke/Maaike! i know how humble you are about your work but TinyGo undoubtedly made possible so many fantastic projects.
i believe that posts like this one are important. being open about your personality helps others being open as well and to not feel alone.

optical illusions to the rescue! i usually change the negative space around the logo. then you can keep the logo the same but make it appear bigger, smaller, darker, lighter, bolder, or thinner.

there is some way to configure it but i just manually adjust X and Y in the boxes afterwards. you can use formulas in there. so if it says x is 123 and you type in "123-2", it will shift everything 2 units left.

i know it's too late to give tips but if you ever need to do something like that again, you can do it in a minute with Inkscape. Inkscape is very good.
in this case, i would select everything, set contour color, remove fill color, do "break apart" to get circles decoupled from the rest, change color of lines, press "select same > color" on one circle to select all circles, and then set width and height for the now selected circles.
i'm glad you solved it in the end :)

Josè Valim is the best human on the internet. Somehow he finds time to help everyone with every Elixir problem or question, review every PR, and still deliver a ton of cool projects. And that's damn impressive.

damn, got a very low score somehow. 0.0012. i can't figure out how to play it, a tutorial would be nice. does the click need to be pixel-perfect? even if i click dead-on, sometimes it says "Precise" but sometimes it's just "Correct".

Edit: or maybe it counts time. it took me almost a minute on some screens.

there are hardly any artists that are happy with AI-generated parodies of their art. at very least it's a reminder that the big magic box was trained on their work.

you can also access public fields in private structs with reflection. in particular, this allows the json package to work with private structs.

when Russ Cox started publishing his research on packaging and minimal version selection, i was deep into Python packaging, writing my own package manager (DepHell), dependency resolution included. and i was honestly impressed. then we actually got it in Go and practice confirmed the theory: this is THE BEST package manager and dependency resolver ever made. if nothing else, i'd use Go just for that.
