I’m seeing some slowdowns in Vim lately. Must have something to do with syntax highlighting or indentation rules or something: When I hit Enter to go to the next line, it sometimes freezes for like 50-100 ms. It’s pretty annoying.
Doesn’t happen in Vim Classic, so I switched all my machines to that now.
Also, irgendwie halte ich dieses Mastodon falsch. 🫤

Gerade chaos.social hat aber ultra harte Blockiermaßnahmen. Mir ist es vor ein paar Tagen einmal passiert, dass ich einen Typo in einer chaos.social-URL hatte (weil ich ein Userprofil manuell aufgerufen und mich dabei vertippt hatte) und seitdem stehe ich da wohl auf der Blockliste und darf gar nix mehr sehen. Das ist mir in der Vergangenheit schon mehrfach passiert.
Mach’ ich da grundlegend was falsch? Oder ist das halt so?

Meine Güte, immer dieser montägliche Absturz. Auf einmal ist da wieder Corporate Enterprise und diese super lahme, verbuggte Software überall, von der an Samstag und Sonntag nichts zu sehen war. Am Wochenende fährste Formel 1 und ab Montag dann wieder Dreirad.

There appears to be a global botnet that requests invalid webpages on my server. Not just random pages or simple exploit attempts, but they all follow a very specific pattern that is unique to my website. Very strange. I’ll probably never find out what that is.
Let’s have some CdW instead. 🥰

Allgemein bin ich der Meinung, dass du in Deutschland keine Klimaanlagen brauchen solltest. Aber der Zug ist wohl abgefahren. 🚂

The ruff repo being 150 MB in size and requiring 407 external packages makes me question my sanity again.
It’s a bit of a shame that mouse support is an afterthought in UNIX terminals. Yes, everything being keyboard driven and not having captive user interfaces in the first place is a feature, I know, but sometimes it feels like that’s a step back (when compared to DOS, for example).
The setups/terminals I’ve tested don’t report mouse motion events by default. You only get press and release. That makes some things a bit … awkward.

@okraits@mas.to Oh, yes, UT99 is much lighter. Runs super smooth here. It’s basically Unreal. UT2k4 is a different beast.
Just for the laughs, a comparison of the system requirements on the “boxes” … 😅
OldUnreal’s UT2004 runs fine on Linux (unlike my retail version, which just segfaults), but it’s obviously much more demanding on the hardware. My 13 year old iGPU can just about manage it – with some frame drops to ~60-70 fps sometimes. 🤔

@blinry This is one of the main reasons why I don’t use AI tools: It’s very, very boring. No, I want to dig through the problems and I want to solve them. Having some magic machine do that for me makes the whole endavour completely pointless.
(And then there’s all the other reasons on top …)
I am somewhat optimistic that more people will realize this as well over time. How dull their hobby has become. Or maybe they won’t, because only a certain kind of personality actually cares about this, I don’t know. 🤷♀️
