@whack@hachyderm.io yep. Absolutely insane. Taking a structured format and then reindenting some other structured variable and then shooting yourself because you can’t see the result, or there are so many forms of multi line values you can’t remember is so insane I wanna scream.

@HardBeingGreen@theblower.au @jillL@theblower.au kinda feels like a political sugar hit rather than meaningful assistance.

@skinnylatte@hachyderm.io this is a great idea which I have sorta been doing too (except I’m baking). The price of restaurants have pushed me out except for birthdays etc.

@NanoRaptor looks like a dye sublimation printer or maybe even flexo I dunno. The only thing I know about prepress is that the prepress guys used to think severe alcoholism was a hobby. One of them cracked a Vb at 6:30am I swear to god

@HardBeingGreen@theblower.au I see the problem politically: the government sometimes needs to axe subsidy/incentive schemes if they are inflationary but it’s wildly unpopular, so the RBA can wear the negativity without any votes lost by the government of the day. Dunno how you would solve this, but I don’t think removing the banks independence would be a good thing.

@mitchellh sorry to hear that. I hope we find the people who do care about making a better forge and help them make it an amazing place too!

@skinnylatte I might possibly give up a bunch of those things for the MRT. Hold the kaya toast though.

@tj@howse.social my kid also plays and it sounds about right. He’s old enough to spot the scams now I guess. This is somehow a vital skill in 2026

@johnquiggin what I find quite confusing is when TikTok is the reason I can’t buy eg cottage cheese. Shows just how much they influence people’s buying decisions.

@robpike@hachyderm.io it’s actually worse on my Sony headphones because it’s an indeterministic race between all the paired devices to connect, and I get the first two fastest devices until I open the app to cull connections. Bluetooth multipoint just absolutely sucks. Go back to the hifi tuner knob to select inputs or figure something out in software.

@mttaggart@infosec.exchange this brings to mind my reflection about retrieval augmented generation: “all you need to do to improve the knowledge of the model is give it a list of search results and have it paraphrase them”. Ok but what if I just got the results for myself. Is this not just handing a sheet of words to some guy so he can read them out?

@jakecoppinger@mastodon.social @badlogic@mastodon.gamedev.place @flozza@infosec.exchange @tj@howse.social yeah have commented before that this type of “citizen data analytics” is a great form of activism in a way, because it’s a direct shot at misinformation

@girlonthenet@mastodon.social the diversity is very cool. The lack of an engagement algorithm gives equal space to niche interests and doesn’t incentivise one type of post over another. It feels real.
