@burnoutqueen@todon.nl I loathe the word "deserve" because of how people use it to justify cruelty and indifference. How some people say a homeless person "deserves" no aid because they are "lazy"; how inmates don't "deserve" humane treatment, safety, and dignity because they're "criminals"; how drug addicts don't "deserve" access to healthcare because they're "junkies". Everyone NEEDS a home, everyone NEEDS safety, everyone NEEDS dignity, and everyone NEEDS healthcare. "Deserving" shouldn't even be in this equation. This society is so obsessed with punishments, believing it will keep society functioning, but that's just abuse, and abuse is a cycle.

@iFixit Hidden screws are annoying, but if there are guides, that's something you can deal with. Glue can be dissolved with some alcohol, and you can get it at most pharmacies. Soldered chips requires specialized equipment and training to repair, which means you can't expect the average person to just follow a guide. I'd say soldered down components is the biggest obstacle for home repairs. I have the equipment and skill to repair these, but even I get annoyed when I have to spend quite a bit of time to upgrade the SSD when M.2 can be upgraded in seconds and doesn't take much space anyway (Apple is especially bad with this, and use it to overcharge their customers), soldered RAM is more common for laptops, but with LPCAMM2, there's no excuse to solder RAM on the board when you're trying to hit the highest performance.

@jalefkowit@vmst.io It's crucial to keep Wikipedia as clean of AI as possible, I'd like to see anyone pro-AI kicked out of the project entirely. Even a single AI generated article is unacceptable.

@Techaltar@mas.to I'm at a point where I won't tolerate any ads. It's my device, I won't let content be displayed on it if I don't want it there. I never disable ad blocking, and if the website blocks me for it, I'll go somewhere else. If an app serves ads, I uninstall it immediately regardless of how useful it is. Eventually when AR becomes common, I'll have IRL ad blocks installed on it and just walk around the city with cute pictures of puppies instead of ads.
