Jostain syystä tämä lähti käytännöksi viime kurssillani, jopa kenties opiskelijoiden aloitteesta. Hyvin haasteellista – ja hauskaa – alalla, jossa on paljon engl- ja muita -ismejä. Vaan eipä ole nuoriso pilalla!
Well, here's a great #overnighthotel in Hamburg! Ten or so minutes walk from hbf, ~20 € night in a Camping ground box. It really is a small one, but kind of a private room anyway. With a tiniest window. They seem to sell pretty quickly though.
Regensburg and Re.Light festival were both very, very nice. I met old and new colleagues and my only complaint is that the bars are too small and noisy, so I didn't quite meet them as much as I'd hope, since I beared the noise and crowding for three minutes on average.
I also got to meet Margareta Hesse, whom I admire, and saw her No barrier for a fourth time.

Got to Berlin, and just an hour later than planned. Then again, I had counted for some leeway and a proper lunch break in Hamburg, which changed into constant timetable checking and a dash to a fast food stall.
Because of cancellations, trains were full, and once again first class pass made traveling way more comfortable. Even to the point of absurdity: in the bursting full train I had the first class wagon all to myself.

Ok, there’s a rail problem of some kind, so another detour via Bad Oldsomething. This journey has so many legs it’s turning into a centipede.
Also, I realised there was something wrong only when everyone else rushed out in Neumünster.

Hamburg was nice, a couple of museums and some working. I stayed at Villa Viva and was again really happy with the price quality ratio.
My trip to Lille was very badly calibrated: every train was late, except for the last one, which meant that I was exactly 59 minutes late, not an hour, which makes seeking for compensation moot. Which, by the way, is super easy via the interrail page, I'll never do the DB compensation shit again.

Berlin was nice, as it usually is, except for crappy art. A sound art work that sounded like collection of nature effects, and a light art piece that looked like an all-flickering light equipment presentation. Luckily, there was a bar in the latter and I rushed for alcohol. The bartender gave me a freebie vodka and took one himself, too. No wonder, he has to watch it day in day out.
But I also got to see Jeremy Shaw's Phase Shifting Index for the third time, which made it all good again.

DB delivers. Train from Kolding to Hamburg late/cancelled, leg from Hamburg to Berlin uncertain. Colour me surprised. Let’s see if I’ll get to Berlin today.

Except for a food poisoning, the rest of my #interrail was a comfortable success. Castle and cousin in Bensheim, dog sitting and a dear friend in Berlin, and the efficient train day & night to Stockholm, where I lived on the edge breakfast-wise: arriving at 6AM I dashed to the SJ firstclass breakfast hotel, had a relatively peaceful brekkie, took the 6:55 bus 53 and made it to harbour just in time to catch the 7:45 ferry to Turku. Where I'm about to arrive soon. And then it's over. Snif.

@MikeFromLFE Oh yes, people at Villa Viva were nice indeed! The common area seemed comfy as well, next time I'll check out the breakfast.
Maybe the fact that the place has a variety of room types, most of them "proper" rooms, makes it so non-sketchy 😄

I'm cursed by the demon of renovations.
I was so looking forward to a nice take away thai dinner from the stand in the Copenhagen waiting hall, but guess what? Yes, renovations, closed. 😩
Well, hot chocolate in the first class lounge it is, until it's time to move on to Malmö.

In Stuttgart area, there were first class departments in an S-Bahn. I've never seen / noticed that before. It wasn't much, basically just a see-through wall and a door secluding a few seats, but of course I had to sit there.

I wonder if I'm also cursed by the Demon of pixelfed-hashtag-following? Whenever I try to follow one, the circle on the follow-button just keeps whirling in the feel-free-to-wait-until-you-die patience and style.
IBSIC Conference in Lille was super fun and professionally meaningful as well. Also the projection mappings of the adjoining festival were at least interesting. It was my second time there, and this time I had two working groups to lead. And to write reports about, when everyone else was bar hopping.
