the issue is that cars are all new when they get made and so they have to cater to the types of people who buy new cars. i wish manufacturers could make used cars. like it's a new design but it comes out of the factory already 20 years old and heavily discounted.

@two@critter.cafe oh that's a really good comparison, i didn't think to calculate that one. the human body is remarkably efficient but its cool how its still in the same ballpark as familiar technology. i wish they used kilojoules here too, seems much more sensible
i never thought about it this way but a kilocalorie is the same as a watt hour more or less... a 15a wall socket maxes out at around 3 cheeseburgers per hour. eating an apple is like eating 40 AA batteries. walking a mile burns through the equivalent of a fully charged gaming laptop battery
