Hello Fediverse!

Time to look for work! I’m a software engineer / web developer looking for work. 🧑🏼‍💻 Yep, another day, another dev without a job.

I enjoy building focused and intentional software that is fast and frictionless for people. Software should be accessible for the widest group of people, whatever their current capabilities.

Primarily, I focus on the frontend, whether that’s way up front with HTML, CSS, Javascript, or building pages from the server with C#, PHP, or NodeJS tools. But I’m also experienced in the backend layer working with APIs and databases. Let me know what you need and I’ll be honest if I can do it, can learn it, or you need someone else.

I live in Aotearoa New Zealand 🇳🇿 and will take contract or full-time work. As I’m originally from the USA 🇺🇸, I believe I can be employed by companies here, there, or Australia 🇦🇺 without piles of paperwork. That said, tech work can be remote worldwide 🌍, so don’t be shy!

Well, looks like I’m finally joining the ranks of the unemployed tech workers 🙁 Barring a good size project coming in in the next month or two, my company just doesn't have the work to keep everyone on.

This is fresh. I'll do some proper "Here's what I'm skilled at" fedi hiring posts later, once I've processed a bit more and prepped my CV, etc. But as a quick hit, I'm available for contract work or full time work as a web & software developer. I've also got some experience in server admin. You'll get good, clean, long-lasting work that doesn't have AI garbage tech-debting all over the place.

If you have or know of any work, let me know. I'm available in New Zealand and remote, and can legally work in NZ, Aus, and the USA without visa issues.

Dropping the cascade for mixins would be a little weird, but just another exception/oddity to remember 😅

@nazhamid @aphera Not a beta tester and probably not really your market audience, but at a glance reading through that article, it seems like it would make sense to add an "Unstarred" category to go with All, Starred, Rejected. Or a way to filter All. Assuming people are being completionist in their culling. Maybe that's not the use case or work flow. But that way you could pick up sort of where you left off in a later session of rating photos. I think the reason behind my comment here is half to hear the reasoning as I would guess it was already considered :)

I’m looking for TTRPG music I can use for my D&D game, anyone have an artist or albums they like? I want tracks that are either minimum 20 minutes or albums where all the tracks fit a theme (so no battle tracks mixed with exploring). Also no AI music.

@polotek@social.polotek.net I’ve had to shift in to working with .Net recently. My struggle is knowing what’s actual c# vs .net vs convention. Pair this with Microsoft’s poor documentation sites and bad naming asp.net, .net core, (or is it asp.net core?) .net framework, .net [version]. Previous hobbyists backend experience years ago was php, but you just wrote pure php. Does anyone write sites in pure c#? (1/2)

Saw a photo of #KiwiPyCon where pretty much everyone (at least attendees) were masked. Went to their website and found their #Covid policy. I don't have a lot of experience with conferences and their organisation, but this seems real good. https://kiwipycon.nz/covid-19

I know a lot of people can't do conferences anymore and that's tough. Encourage your conference organisers to go in this direction. It's possible and some people are still trying to keep others safe and included.
