I teach # physics , play in a # punk band. 🎸 'All manner of things shall be well.'☦️ Nature brings joy. 🌳 I tweet about my dog Boobington Bear, and all sorts of stuff. I tend to avoid accounts with 10000s of followers. Looking for thoughtful tooters. I think I am kinda old fashioned.

@TheZorse@hear-me.social I can't speak for other traditions but in Christian thought matter, the physical, is held very highly as a blessing and a good thing. Given this it strikes me that a natural extension is to speak of non material things in material terms. We do this all the time in physics eg wave/particle but then describe them via say probabilities. Ditto the on going debate over consciousness. Personally it seems to me that materialists miss out a whole dimension of reality just because they can't measure or bottle it. By doing so they inadvertently shut down a side of themselves. All very sad
