@funbaker What conditions? There are basic conditions—those fundamental rights. Everything else is up to you. You know, in the USSR it was very difficult to fire an employee, so many people took their jobs irresponsibly. There’s a joke that goes: “It flies, it buzzes, but it never hits the ear.” A Soviet flying buzzer, designed to hit the ear.

@funbaker I lived in Russia in the ’90s. I went through it. More than once. When I was 10, I was forced to work as an electrician’s assistant. There was nothing to eat at home! And some of my peers chose a life of crime. Most of them have been dead for a long time. And those who survived that time and prison don’t justify their choices. And they don’t shift the blame. The most you’ll hear is that they survived as best they could.

My homeland went through a period when there really was nothing to eat. By the way, the U.S. provided a lot of support back then. However, most people were looking for ways to earn money, not to steal.

However, only a few people actually steal. For some reason, a baker doesn’t steal flour. Stealing is a choice, and the thief must bear the responsibility for it.

@jedimb @golgaloth Are there any examples of socialist countries without authoritarianism or dictatorship? Left-wing regimes ruthlessly curtail freedoms as soon as they sense a threat to their power. Freedom and justice are just marketing ploys. Dictatorship and the thirst for power are the real essence.
