I went out with my #astronomy club on Saturday night and ended up staying up literally all night doing #astrophotography. I'm still working on processing everything that I captured because I kind of went hog wild and set up 4 telescopes (if you count my Seestar S30).
I stayed up all night because I wanted to try to capture a pic of comet C/2025 R3 (PANSTARRS). I was only able to capture for like 20 minutes before the sunrise blew out all the images, but I did manage to get luminance and RGB.

@jepyang I wonder if that has to do with people's increased exposure to AI. It was easy to fool people at the beginning because it was so eloquent, but now people know the subtle cues that they are talking to an AI instead of a human.

I always go to Google News because it's a good aggregation of everything, but I trust Google less and less nowadays and feel like I shouldn't depend upon them. It's kind of like I either:
- Intentionally take an extended break from work, blow through my savings, and hope it helps without jeopardizing my future job prospects too much, becoming destitute, and/or falling into a pit of depression from which I never return
OR
- Keep going as I have been and that all happens anyway, only in a way that pisses everyone off, burns bridges, and makes me feel even worse about myself.

I've often read that the best treatment for burnout is to take a break.
But if I'm burned out from maintaining a neurotypical level of executive function and fighting demand avoidance, how am I supposed to realistically take a break? What does that even mean?

This is always the thing I think about with LLMs. By definition, they are the statistical average of every thing ever written. Using one only pushes you into being mediocre. They are homogenizing humanity; eliminating any variation in how people speak, write, and even think.

I feel like the theme of the 2020s is epistemology.
For those who aren't aware, epistemology is the branch of philosophy that deals with the nature of knowledge, as in,
- What does it mean to say you "know" something?
- What does it mean for something to be "truth"?
- What is "real"? How do you "know" that?
- What is the difference between "belief" and "knowledge"?
- What's the best way to go about finding more of this "knowledge" stuff, whatever it is?
- What are the limits of knowledge?
