I have sometimes just used an alternative if I couldn't figure out how to fix the AUR-build myself. Sometimes compiling from source directly works, but oftentimes not

@elebertus whaaat I almost never have such trouble. When an update breaks something I get a nice little e-mail by the Arch-team beforehand telling me how to workaround ^^
Now, AUR-packages... That's a different story
And Debian is fine for work-laptop great even but my gaming desktop needs Arch

@elebertus ahh that reminds me of installing Gentoo ~15 years ago. Took a few days but it was finished and nice with a sweet Awesome WM, personalized Lua-files and all...
Then I had a few weeks where I was away and didn't update... The next update broke the system. Too lazy and tired to fix it I went back to my Noob Arch ^^
