After a few weeks writing a *lot* of book reviews (my fault, I scheduled this, no schedule survives contact right now)--
--suddenly a piece of literary theory tips over in my head -- this is why X is a common failure mode in climate fiction; this is how it functions; this is how I can go and *make it work better in my own stuff* -- and right. Enough flinging myself against people's work with the whole brain, and the pipes clear, the pumps prime, this is why I overbook myself doing this. 🙂

Have you noticed a sharp 2026 increase in people just literally flaking off things they said they'd do?
Work commitments, deadlines, general promises, followup calls for things where *they actually want your money*, doesn't matter which, it's legitimately less than 50/50 if it's actually going to happen? "You said you would and then you didn't, what was I supposed to think?" is now apparently fighting words?

Team, riddle me this, because this is the third time I've found this weird little political meme and it's both so ahistorical and weird that I've got to ask:
The idea that colonizers invented clocks to impose linear time on innocent, free, unscheduled populations and force their bodies into the machine. That linear time and measuring time is a *plot* of some sort.
Who started this one? How's this getting passed around in a world of Stonehenge, Babylonian sundials, Egyptian water clocks?
