Surely at least some of the staff at the magic academy know about T-gurl and T-boi bracelets, and/or could examine the one Gnarlo stole & put on to figure out what it was & that there's a common counter-curse. Do Lumpikith's parents know they change sex regularly? There's been no mention of changing outfits, vs. Gnarlo being stuffed into a skirt.

Heaps of background questions here about who does/should know what about everything various cultures' (species'?) gender expectations to knowledge of magical artifacts and the local adventuring spaces.

Perhaps there will be (or they can create) an occasion for a Miasma magic contest -- possibly even school-sanctioned demonstrations. Interesting that Gnarlo is trash-talking Raven but addressing Freydis like she matters, rather than dismissing the entire group for following a human. Have their looting successes been noticed? Or are they the new clique & being targeted?

I'll be a bit disappointed if Freydis pigeonholes Tara as support staff. Freydis and Tara could brainstorm non-standard uses for Tara's magics.

@Ralph A cutting mat protects the underlying work surface while cutting various material (paper, fabric, foam, ...) with a sharp blade (utility knife, rotary cutter ...). Usually they're marked with a measured grid, and often also a variety of angles to help make precise cuts with the assistance of a straightedge. They often have a "self-healing" surface that won't be scarred by the cutting blades ... and thank you for the reminder to look that bit up, as I don't know how self-healing works.

@Ralph The object at the lower-right is a mug, mostly full -- possibly coffee or tea with milk, or cocoa. The background for the framed photo and the mug looks to me more like a cutting mat.

Raven may never want to, but if that's not an option I hope Fluffdusti makes that clear beforehand. Or is it a one-shot physical transformation rather than a change actively maintained by the bracelet? That, too, should be made clear.

@nuwagaba2@mastodon.social Crochet and sewing are two of my hobbies. I'm a baby knitter, as I'm enough better at crochet that knitting feels slow, frustrating, and error-prone. Eventually I will have put in enough practice to get past that & produce something respectable, but that's a ways off still. 🧶 You could learn to weave, or knit, or both. From your posts it sounds like gardening and farming are much more important to you, at least currently. Do you grow any fiber crops?

The thread under the story has a some discussion of fiber arts as a foundational technology, and one that continues to be developed, including early contributions to programming. Magic is what we don't understand yet.
