@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange I think we anthropomorphise AI tools because of the natural language response. So we are more forgiving than we would be if those tools used a more mechanical tone in generated output. There's few tech tools that would be so popular with such poor observed results. But if those poor results come from our friendly chatbot, well that's ok.

@wesgeorge@mstdn.social I've used cherry browns in an office w/o complaints. currently using keychron k8 v2 and happy with it. There's plenty of switch options for that board if cherry brown isnt your preference. The host switching (bluetooth) and OS switching (Mac and Win) make it possible to use it for work and personal, w/o too much hassle. As I type less Ipv4 addresses, I seem to use the numpad a lot less and therefore find TKL boards are perfect for me. YMMV.

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange so there's some unverified speculation that it was a time node update, not a loss of signal, that caused the issue. Date was reset to 10 years in the past. Naturally this could be completely bogus, but since this is social media, I'm sharing like it's true.

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange i'm only familiar with the 5g bit and still wondering why a separate radio net also shared those timing nodes or relied on something that relied on those nodes. its not exactly NTP, but near enough for our purposes. but what happened to those nodes? they lose access to sat signal? they get an update that broke them?

deterrence
rehabilitation
community protection
accountability
recognition of harm

@Red_Shirt_no2@c.im @hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange resilience doesn’t mean invulnerable. So it could be DNS. Bits can fail. Although what I’ve read so far suggests not this time. The beauty and the horror of DNS is that it can still mostly work even with broken configs or dodgy implementations. Sometimes you need a system to fail to spot problems. The controlled interruption phase new TLDs go through when delegated to the internet root is a good example of this thinking. On second thought, it was probably DNS

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange I've been involved in a couple of spit balling exercises like this for govt and telcos (also for govt). the problem is ppl see that DNS is resilient and routing is resilient and forget that your daily weather report doesnt get generated or served via a router. your logistcs app doesnt live in DNS. the internet that matters for ordinary ppl is the apps and content that is far more centralised and fragile than most realise.
