@letztens@podcasts.social Ja mich auch irgendwie, aber die Frage ist, was die Alternativen sind.. ich erinnere mich bei den Corona-Zuschüssen, alle Banken die On-Prem-Installs hatten waren erstmal down und es gab shitstorm. US-cloud-basiert lief alles aber halt bei evil-big-tech. Irgendwie muss man dann ja abwägen welche architektonischen Optionen man noch hat?

@arendjr @thephpf I'm not sure, we run a couple of school libraries and obviously the (grand-)parents in the school are doing volunteer work inbut if I build the software (with AI or not, it does not matter) that supports these libraries, this is suddenly not volunteer work? Sounds strange somehow.

Not sure if it’s so black and white.. in „my“ project there are certainly contributors who are maybe new to Typescript and use AI to get code explained and potentially improved but still their main goal is to learn and collaborate. If part of their journey is assisted by AI, who am I to judge?

@eingemaischt @reeeen Ja gut, das weiss ich alles. Aber in den allermeisten Fällen melde ich mich weder an noch interagiere sonstwie mit der Webseite. Meine Erwartung ist, dass ich ohne Cookies browsen kann und wenn welche notwendig werden (shopping, ..), dann kann ich immer noch zustimmen. Die Einwilligung am Anfang einzuholen ist (technisch) unnötig.

One of my favourite topics is #digitalsovereignty. When dealing with documents, often the answer is "install nextcloud instead of sharepoint". And using #opensource is a good idea, but as soon as you work across different organisations, I believe it is not sufficient. In the end you still depend on a central installation of the tool hosted by someone.

@EmilyEnough very interesting observation, thanks a lot. I haven’t perceived it that way - I used to work a lot with probabilistic models, simulated annealing and genetic algorithms and in that case the computer works entirely deterministic but the result is always different. So I lost my expectation to a deterministic result long time ago ;-)

@nilsbuehler Vielen Dank, interessanter Artikel! Auch wir haben mit markdown experimentiert und wenn man das mit git verbindet (pull requests, merges, ..) ist es SEHR mächtig und beliebt. Das Problem ist, dass Gitlab und co zu komplex sind von der Oberfläche, da müsst es so einen Anfänger Modus mit weniger Buttons geben.

Die Weiterentwicklung ist gut investierte 9 Millionen, während 15 Millionen an Lizenzkosten einfach aus dem Fenster rausgeworfenes Geld wären. Das darf man nicht nebeneinander so vergleichen.

@angry@social.tchncs.de Souveränität hat eh nix mit "Europa" oder "US" servern zu tun (ja auch europäische Server könnten mal zu autoritären Regimes gehören). Es heisst doch nur, dass man selbstbestimmt ist und eMail Server gibt es ja genug.
